Shanfield Melnick Mikvah

As our Shul reached the milestone of 40 years in its current location on Glengrove Avenue, we embarked on a project of renewal through an expansion of the Shul building. Building a Mikvah that can serve the needs of our entire neighbourhood was a major objective of the planned renovation.

Benefactors and Sponsors

Shomrai Shabbos Chevra Mishnayos expresses our deep gratitude and sincere appreciate to Mr. and Mrs. Mani and Joan Melnick for their benevolence in graciously dedicating our new Shanfield-Melnick Mikvah, named in commemoration of their mothers, Mrs. Lina Shanfield a”h and Mrs. Bertha Melnick a”h, as well as in memory of Mrs. Joan Melnick’s sister, Ms. Gail Shanfield a”h.

The blessed memory of these special women will be perpetuated through this dedication and the ongoing use of the Mikvah will serve as a continuous merit to them and to the extended Melnick family.

As a Shomrai Shabbos sisterhood project, many years ago, Lina’s daughter Joan Melnick was involved in chaperoning ladies to and from Mikvah at the Bais Yaakov Elementary school on Friday nights and Yom Tov. She would leave her family and take the 2 hours needed to help other ladies perform this mitzvah. This went on for many years. With the graciousness of the Melnick-Shanfield family, there is now be a neighborhood Mikvah that can be used for these devoted ladies on Shabbos and Yom Tov.
